DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑948‑0 (3) ‑‑2M‑23 between the Iowa Depart­ment of Transportation and Clinton County transferred Unsigned Iowa 948 to county jurisdiction on August 1, 1987. The official description of Unsigned Iowa 948 in Clinton County should be deleted from the primary road system to reflect this transfer.

 

Unsigned Iowa 948 begins at the east corporation line of De Witt and travels easterly to a junction with US 30 approximately four miles east of De Witt.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Unsigned Iowa 948 in Clinton County from the primary road system.

 

Old Description ‑ Unsigned Iowa 948 in Clinton County described as follows:

 

Beginning at the east corporation line of De Witt connecting with 11th Street; thence southeasterly through Sections 17, 16, 15 and 14‑T81N‑R4E to a point approximately 950 feet north of the SW Corner Section 13‑T81N‑R4E; thence south following substantially the section line of Sections 13 and 24‑T81N‑R4E to a point approximately 50 feet south of the NW Corner Section 24‑T81N‑R4E (junction US 30).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑948‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑23 between the Iowa Department of Transportation and De Witt transferred that portion of Unsigned Iowa 948 from a junction with US 30 and US 61 easterly approximately 5,650 feet (1978 corporation line of De Witt) to city jurisdiction on February 23, 1987. The official description of Unsigned Iowa 948 should be revised to reflect this transfer. The remainder of Unsigned Iowa 948 remains unchanged.

 

Unsigned Iowa 948 begins at the east corporation line of De Witt and travels easterly to a junction with US 30 approximately four miles east of De Witt.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Unsigned Iowa 948 in Clinton County and including the new description in the primary road system.

Unsigned Iowa 948 begins at the west junction of US 30 and US 61 at DeWitt and travels easterly approximately one mile; beginning again at the east corporation line of the City of DeWitt traveling easterly to a junction with US 30 approxi­mately four miles east of DeWitt.

 

Due to an annexation to the west part of DeWitt in the north US 30, US 61 and Unsigned Iowa 948 interchange area; the present description of Unsigned Iowa 948 in Clinton County should be revised. The new description added should be officially included in the primary road system to reflect this change in corporate limits.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Unsigned Iowa 948 in Clinton County be deleted and the new description, as listed in the attached detailed description, be included in the primary road system.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 948 in Clinton County, Iowa.
